Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Enviro Fashion Tip:
Try your hand at creating your Halloween costume with make-up effects or hire/ borrow a costume, instead of buying a cheap/ trashy costume that you will throw away.
Generally Halloween costumes are poorly constructed and made from man made fabrics like polyester which will take hundreds of years to break down in landfill. Now that's a frightening thought!

Trilogy Love

Yesterday I asked a beauty wise friend who shares my values for all things natural, simple and ethical for her recommendations on skincare. Her instant response was Trilogy.
I've just checked out their site and it's a goodie, jam packed full of info. There are detailed explainations of the ingredients used in their products and information on the qualities of each individual ingredients benefits.
The companies philosophy discusses the brands ethics and consideration for the environment which come across as a genuine and honest (I like that).
These products are now on my shopping list:

Very Gentle Cleansing Cream:
From the Sensitive Skin Range this cleanser gently cleans the skin, removing make-up - including mascara.
It is alcohol and fragrence free and includes Almond, Avocado and Camellia to clean and sooth skin without drying. Check out those glossy awards too!

Vital Moisturising Cream:
I'll be using this as my daily moisturiser. It features an SPF15 and includes Certified Organic Rosehip Oil as one of its ingredients.
Rosehip oil features through many of Triology's products and is a natural oil that effectively improves the appearance of uneven skintone, wrinkles, scars and stretchmarks. Worthwhile looking into their other body moisturisers too.

Replenishing Night Cream:
This cream includes the important wonder ingredient, Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate). Vitamin A is an antioxidant highly effective in treating aging skin. It may help reduce wrinkles and fine lines, increase collagen production, smooth skin texture, increase skin thickness, and diminish acne. Perfect for the ageing paranoid among us.
(I spy some more sweet awards there too.)

Meat Free Monday - 08.10.12

It really felt like Summer is rolling in today (never-mind that it rained on and off all day, we're in New Zealand and that happens year round). I had all my doors wide open  so I could enjoy the balmy temperature and worked with my workrooms roller door up until 7.30 before noticing nighttime had arrived.

I even have Basil growing again. What a treat!

My absolute favourite basil including recipe is the classic pizza Margarita. I think pizzas are best when they are kept simple, so the line up of Tomato Paste, shredded chunks of Buffalo Mozzarella, sliced Tomato, torn up fresh basil and smattering of cracked Pepper are my idea of pizza perfection.

Do tell if you have any truly worthy additions (good luck!)

Have a great week C x

Glory Garden 05.10.12

I got my garden planted pretty nicely over the last week. It's not my dream garden by any stretch as it is confined to a tiny courtyard and a deck. But I am pretty happy with my effort all the same. I have planted out various pots with a range of fragrant beauties including Gardenias (my favourite garden flower), Sweet Pea's, Allysum and Lavender. There is also a Dwarf Kaffir Lime tree, Blueberries and herbs to satisy (in the smallest amount) my self sufficent garden dreams.
Oh and there are some White Geranium cuttings from Nana Rose's garden that I have poked into some window baskets on my deck. I'm dreaming of the day that they are in all their glory and luciously tumbling down out of the baskets.
No pictures at this stage, so here is some visual inspiration from my 'Somewhere to Garden' board on Pinterest. You can check out the board here.

Garden styling at it best.

Self sufficent glory.

Sweet Pea's on an Obleisk (I have mine doing the same up a wrought iron one).
